Kanopy Documentary Screening - Your Attention Please

About this event

Using the streaming service Kanopy, accessible to those with East Providence Public Library cards, we will be showing the documentary:

Your Attention Please

As the real-world consequences of social media come into sharper focus, a coalition of parents, Gen Z reformers, programmers, and whistleblowers pushes back against the attention economy and Big Tech's growing influence over human connection. Their efforts range from legislative advocacy born of personal loss to new technologies designed to combat cyberbullying and make digital spaces safer for young people.

Blending intimate personal stories with perspectives from leading voices in tech reform and digital well-being, YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE examines how platform design is reshaping autonomy, childhood, and public life. It asks whether we can reclaim the tools that increasingly govern our attention, or remain captive to the scroll.

"Your Attention Please is a fight for humanity. It may seem dramatic to frame it that way, but our attention is one of the few things we can control in this technology-consumed world." - Tina Kakadelis (Film Obsessive)
